REPORT (THIRD SECTION) OF THE

SALARIES REPORT ANOMALIES COMMITTEE.

The following matters have been referred to us since the completion of the Second Section of our Report.

100. A question has arisen as to the starting salary of a Chinese University-Trained Mistress. Her training agreement provides for a salary of $900 per annum on taking up her duties as a Government teacher. $900 is the equivalent of the sixth year's unrevised salary of a non- Graduate Anglo-Chinese Mistress and we consider that the revised starting salary should therefore be the revised sixth year's salary for that class of officer, i.e. $1320 .

101. We have considered a petition from Mr. W.J. Anderson, Superintendent of Accounts and Stores, Public "Works Department, (a special appointment in the Senior Clerical & Accounting Staff) that the revised scale allotted to him by the Salaries Report (£700-£25-£950) should be raised.

Mr. Anderson's main argument is that he is and has been for some time in charge of an important sub-department of the Public Works Department and in this capacity should have been granted the charge allowance drawn by the Engineers-in-charge of the executive sub- departments and that had he been in receipt of this allowance when the Salaries Report was considered by

Government
